Does Big Walk Have Crossplay? Yes — Here's How It Works
✔ Last checked: 2026-08-04
Yes — Big Walk has full crossplay. A Steam player, a PS5 player and a Switch 2 player can all take the same walk together. Here’s how connecting works.
Two ways to join a session
- Friends list (same platform). If the host is on your Steam/PlayStation/Nintendo friends list, their active session simply appears in your join menu.
- Join Code (works across everything). Every time the host starts a session, the game generates a short, unique code. The host reads it out (or texts it — ahem, before the session starts), everyone enters it, done. This is also how Mac App Store players always connect, since that version has no friends-list support.
The host can find the code in the corner of the host menu before starting, or under Session Details in the in-game menu once playing.
The host is the save file
One design decision worth understanding before your group buys the game: the host keeps all progress. When the host stops the session, everyone disconnects; to continue the adventure, the same host needs to fire it up again. Pick a host who:
- shows up reliably,
- has a stable connection and a machine that runs the game well (host performance affects everyone’s network experience).
Password protection
Sessions can be password-protected, and the host can change the password mid-session from Session Details — useful if a code leaks to that one friend-of-a-friend nobody invited.
FAQ
Can PS5 and PC players play Big Walk together?
Yes. Big Walk supports crossplay across all its platforms — Steam (Windows and Mac), PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2.
Do I need to be friends on the same platform to join?
No. If you're on the same platform friends list the session shows up automatically, but anyone can join any session with a short Join Code shared by the host.
Why can't my Mac App Store friend see my game?
The Mac App Store version doesn't support a Game Center friends list, so those players always join via Join Code. It works exactly the same once they're in.
Is there cross-progression?
Progress is saved by the session host, not by each player, so the whole group's progress lives with whoever hosts — regardless of platform.
